Approach
The court sits at the center of a unit that houses kids ages 5 to 17, and it needed to feel like a reason to get outside, not just a repaired surface. Alongside the court restoration, we layered in murals built around positive messaging and local sports team logos, giving the space an identity kids could actually get excited about. It's the kind of court a kid on the unit points out to a new patient on their first day.
Outcome
The court is now the spot on the unit that doesn't look like the rest of it. Kids staying there have responded to it the way you'd hope: a little lighter, a little more themselves, in a space that was built to feel like theirs instead of just another hallway. It's a small square footage doing a lot of work for how these kids experience their stay.
