When Fremont Middle School's new building opened, Graffiti Park returned to paint over 8,000 square feet across the entire campus, giving the Lancers an identity that finally matched their new home.

When Fremont Middle School's new building opened, Graffiti Park returned to paint over 8,000 square feet across the entire campus, giving the Lancers an identity that finally matched their new home.

When Fremont Middle School's new building opened, Graffiti Park returned to paint over 8,000 square feet across the entire campus, giving the Lancers an identity that finally matched their new home.
Approach
Graffiti Park had already painted Fremont's portables while the new building went up, so by the time construction finished, the relationship — and the school's story — was already underway. That history let the second project go further: a massive Lancer on horseback anchoring the gym, murals running the length of the upstairs and downstairs hallways, a mariachi mural, a library mural, a welcome center done in an old Vegas theme, and STEM-themed murals in the science rooms. Thirty-plus pieces, each one built for the specific room it lives in rather than a single repeated design.
Outcome
Admin had loved the portables project, but this one felt different — personal, built for their school specifically rather than adapted from somewhere else. Fremont now has a campus with real character throughout, from the science wing to the library, and the gym mural in particular has become a point of pride for the basketball teams playing under it. Thirty-plus murals in, the building doesn't just house the Lancers. It looks like theirs.
