UMC Gala Live Art Activation
Brief
A live-painting activation for UMC's annual gala, giving Las Vegas's public hospital a moment of warmth and identity outside its clinical walls.

Approach
A hospital gala usually sells itself on the mission alone. UMC wanted the room to also feel like something worth remembering. Artist Black57tcb painted live throughout the night, working on "NY Nights," a rain-lit scene of the city after dark, while three completed canvases framed the space around him. Alongside the easel, an interactive panel invited guests to finish the line "I love UMC because…" in their own handwriting, turning donor sentiment into something visible on the wall instead of left in a speech.
Outcome
The panel became the room's quiet centerpiece — guests kept returning to read what others had written, then added their own. Physicians, donors, and staff gathered around Black for most of the evening, watching the piece take shape and telling him what UMC meant to them in the process. For an institution that spends the rest of the year being evaluated on outcomes and metrics, the gala gave UMC something harder to quantify: a room full of people saying, unprompted, why they cared.
